I have a 1946 M that had the original tires on it when I bought it and they are the 11-38. After the war 12-38 was much more common but right after the war a little rubber could be saved by putting the smaller tires on and in that manner could produce another set of tires after x many had been made. These 11-38s also had the narrow rim while the 12-38s had an inch wider rim. By the way the orginal owner was sure happy to get $850 for it in 1963, it cost him about $350 from new price to drive it 17 years guese I could brag more after another 37 years if I were of mind to sell.
