The negative battery cable which came with my '49 Cub will not reach between the battery and starter when it is routed beneath the driver platform. How long is that cable supposed to be?
My battery box looks different from any other I have seen - in pictures. It has a 1 1/2 inch hole near the top left side toward the front. It is one piece (no removable front). The cable hole seems to be just above the PTO lever.
Anyway, I sand blasted the box and lid, primed and painted them, cleaned the paint away from the lock washer location, cleaned the bolts and lock washers, and reassembled to the Cub using dielectric grease. Ohm meter indicates good contact. I bought a 6 volt battery today from Car Quest company.
