Sometimes these old steering wheels leave black decomposing rubber on your hands. What I have found that works well is to use a product like Castrol Super Clean, or Purple Power and a scrub brush to remove as much of the dry rotting rubber as you can, then use a building primer, wetsand and follow it up with SEM Trim Black. The trim black paint replicates the look of rubber perfectly. It is not a long term solution, but you can get years of use out of it without getting black palms!
