Don"t count on a SH having a stronger gear. Find one with a number on it that ends with DA or DB. Depending on how the old gear is broke there may be enough of the gear center sticking up from hub to remove with a puller with cam in engine. Only thing is when installing replacement gear the cam needs blocked to keep it from shifting to rear. If installing a DB gear I recommend removing cam because there made for a tighter fit on cam than previous gears. When removing front cover the oil pan needs dropped anyway to get a good seal between it and front cover. Oil pump is removed before cam along with valve mechanism, lifters raised in bores, and 2 bolts behind cam gear. Gears from C-164, 169 and 175 engines will all fit a H engine.
