I wonder if someone could give me their best guess as to the cause of this problem. When my 806 sits for more that a couple of days, there is no steering at first startup. By this I mean that, with the engine running, I can turn the steering wheel several turns and it is as if it is not connected to the wheels in any way. The steering wheel turns easily and does not turn the front wheels. After turning the steering wheel for a couple of turns, the power steering comes to life and the front wheels begin to turn as normal. The tractor will then operate normally from that point on. This problem must be caused by one of two things. I suspect the manual pump that is directly connected to the steering wheel, or the control valve that directs pressurized hydraulic oil to the steering piston based on input from the manual pump on the steering wheel. Actually there could be another cause for this. Possilby the multiple control valve is not holding hydraulic fluid in the system after shut down. Does anyone have a thought on this? Note: I can live with this the way it is indefinitely. It is just kind of a nuicance and I like to have everything working as it should.
