Bought a 15 hp 42" Cub about 5 years ago. Looked at pretty much all available tractors at the time. Kept away from the K-mart & Sears lawn mowers, and had a budget of $2000. Was torn between a JD & CUB, but finally decided on the Cub. Ability to grease many of the points was a big deciding factor. Make sure the engine has a pressurized oil system & filter, and a cast iron sleeve in the cylinder (not sure if cast iron blocks are made any more.
Don't push any machine to the max, do the recommended maintenance at least at the recommended intervals, and most products will last a long time.
