Michael, white smoke is caused by injection pump out of time or insufficient compression to ignite the Diesel fuel. The compression will be down until the rings seat. Did you have the injection pump or timing gears removed? If the pump or gears were not removed then the timing should be good. How cold is it where the tractor is located? Maybe a short of ether but not to much. Do you have another tractor or 4x4 to pull start it?
