Hal: It would help if you told us which hose blew. Pressure is what hydraulic systems are all about, without it they won't lift anything. Where is this 2" match box size block? You say out of the plow, but where on the plow?
The cavitation noises make me suspect you have low hydraulic oil, dirty screen or filter, maybe some improper plumbing. When was the last time you checked the filter or changed the hydraulic oil? Do you know if any modifications have been made to the hydraulic system, I'm thinking the control valve that controls the hitch when I talk modifications.
Do you have a manual showing how to adjust depth control on that plow? I ask that as I've seen some quite unusual ways of trying to achive depth control, most of them don't work.
