Use 3/8 threaded rod for mounting the alternator to the bracket. I remember that we turned the mounting bracket upside down & had to lengthen the mounting holes about1/2 inch to get the proper belt alignment. We just used a hacksaw blade in the sabre-saw for making the holes longer. For the tightener-- use 2 pieces of 1/4 or3/8 inch thick by 3/4 inch wide steel slightly longer than needed & drill holes in both ends of both pieces[5/16 is large enough] & bend an off-set in one piece the thickness of the material[1/4 or3/8] to make the 2 pieces "flat" when bolted together. Use these bolted pieces like a hinged "V" to tighten the belt. I think we went to a 37 1/2 inch belt, also.
