John M is more than likely correct. If you are sure it was in correctly, the splines could be hung up or mismatched as you indicate. Be sure the new disk fits the splines with no issues. Using a small stone, ot needle file on burrs and ridges can make a good fit. I use a spray (Triflow, or PTFE containing dry lube) to assure spline movement without getting slick on friction materials. JimN
