I think you will find 2" NPT taps for cheap money on eBay. Used taps can be freshened up with a die grinder run down the flutes. You might find a few cheap taps at a flea market.
For the most part, if an existing pipe is still securely screwed into a manifold, you won't need to chase the manifold thread after the nipple comes out.
