CMG: From the factory the first block to receive C-123 status was block part number 354898 R1. It was used in all Super C and Super A after serial number 310300, however the Super A remained C-113 with thicker sleeves, keeping the bore at 3". One point, that block part number may have changed from R1 to R2 before end of SA and SC production. The Super A was changed to C-123 with water pump added at serial number 356001, in mid 1954, and those last 1,957 were refered to as Super A1 or IA1.
How do you know your engine is C-123? It was not cast on exterior of any blocks prior to 1951. C-123 was never cast on Super A blocks, not certain about Super C, however I doubt it as IH were using the same casting for C-113 and C-123 from 51 until 54. I'm almost certain, if you had an engine with C-123 cast on outside of block, you have a 100, 200, or later engine.
