Scott, Nice pictures. Just out of curiosity I would temporarily swap the #1 & #2 rods to see if the problem follows the piston or the rod. (ie: put the number 2 piston on your number 1 rod, and numer 1 piston on number 2 rod and swap the rods between number 1 and 2 crank journals) Idea is keep the pistons where they are and just move the rods. I have a bent rod sitting downstairs now that would show like the problem you see.
If the problem is the rod, replace it and follow the advice you had earlier about checking for head clearance. My gut feeling is that the small amount of twist you see to the tops is alright if it is consistant. Your 140 head has the small combustion chanber so if you are at all concerned, definately test for clearance.
If the problem stays with the piston, I would send them back to the supplier/manufacturer.
Just a note, I don"t ever recommend saving the pin bushings when you replace the sleeves and pistons. And Hugh, that is definately the later 140/240 series block as you can see from the flat in the lower left picture. Count his head bolt positions... Just a gentle reminder that the I&T manual has an error.
