Just wanted to point a few things out..
as far as the ranges go, they are also syncro except going into reverse.
also, shifting between 1-2 3-4 5-6 actually uses a powershift transmission so there's no need to worry about a t/a going out.
we have a 5088 that we've had since new which now has 8200 hours. the motor has never been touched except for a valve adjustment. the powershift section of the tranny was rebuilt around 7200 hours and probably would have lasted a lot longer had it had an update done to it when it was new.
