ok everything checks out as you stated, but you are the second person to mention a resistor. I replaced the coil that was on it, I think the previous owner had mentioned that it was a 6 volt system but when I brought the ignition coil into Bumper To Bumper they replaced it with a 12 volt resistorless coil, I know my starter has a 12 volt solenoid on it and I have a 12 volt battery so I am unsure what else could possibly be 6 volts other than the alternator. But I do not have a resistor of any kind in the ignition setup. Please clarify for me because as I stated previously the previous owner was a hack mechanic and would just remove broken parts and replace them with whatever he had on hand that may work.
