On your question, "How did he get in?" Is the inspection cover in place at back of torque tube where you adjust the clutch? Is the small cover in place where you grease release bearing. A lot of tractors came without the cover back at clutch adjustment, and mice can get through the torque tube.

My tractors don't have covers at back. I find the best way to keep mice out is spray inside of torque tube with WD-40 every 3 months. I never had this problem back when tractors were worked every day. Mice don't seem to like a mobile home.
