Most likely you need to clean the sediment bowl, but the problem might also be in the screen in the fuel inlet fitting on the carburetor. Another possibility is a foreign object in the gas tank which occasionally finds its way over the fuel outlet, and restricts the flow of fuel. And last, a faulty ignition coil can cause the same exact symptoms.
