Good morning Hugh and happy Canada Day to you and yours, north of our border! The holiday was formally established by statute in 1879, and was originally called Dominion Day, making reference to the term "dominion," which was first used to describe a political union within the British Empire for Canada, at a time when the British government was hesitant to adopt the name proposed by the Fathers of Confederation: Kingdom of Canada. Canada Day marks the creation of the Dominion of Canada through the British North America Act on July 1, 1867, uniting three British colonies—the provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Canada free colonies united to form one country divided into four provinces. The Province of Canada became Ontario and Quebec. I have always liked the anthem 'O Canada' and have included a link. A day off from work is what I read, so Hugh, take the wife/family out and give your Farmall's the holiday also. Take care, Al – lover of round barns.
