DJL: When IH came out with 88 series, I declared that was the end of IH tractors already on the downhill, that was in 1981. I said then that fan shaft through the radiator with a suck fan out would be a nightmare. I drove one of these back then, and I couldn't see any shifting improvment over 86 series.

I do know some of the results of my prediction, however that was the last time I was ever in an 88 series tractor, thus I have no idea how they stood the test of time. We do know IH didn't, and we know CaseIH did not keep the suck fan.

I'm sure there are folks around with more 88 experience than I.
