I run Mobil Delvac 1 5w-40 in my '42 H that I overhauled and broke-in on IH low ash 30 weight. No issues yet with 170 hours or so on the overhaul and once a year oil changes. I believe you need to use something like Delvac that is rated for diesels that has (I think) extra zinc in it that a flat-tappet camshaft needs. Or maybe it's something else, anyway the new gasoline rated synthetics aren't real great in an old engine because lots of additives that flat-tappet cams need have been taken out because they take out the catalytic converter on newer vehicles.
