I have a gear drive 826 (92 pto hp); My neighbor has an 856 (100hp). 358 engine vs 407. Never checked any casting nos, but they look the same. I do know the 826 replaced the 756-matter of fact, they were going to call it the 756 Series II. The 826 has bigger engine ,taller radiator; came off same assembly line as 856 in one of the Quad cities(?Rock Island??); At the time due to the hydro option they beefed up the 756 (826) and the 856 (1026) but kept producing the 856 along with the 826 & 1026. I think back then they wanted match-ups for the 4000, 4020 and 4320 or such. Maybe the other way around- John was trying to match red.

The 3/42 had a 3 cylinder diesel engine which produced 42 bhp at 2,000 rpm. Th
