Jeff: I will agree with you on the PTO being different from other IH tractors. However it is not live PTO, it does not have a two stage clutch, and your right it is not IPTO. It is a transmission driven PTO that stops every time you depress the clutch. I don't have a parts book on both 404 and the C, SC, 200, 230 and 240. I do have an IT service manual the covers all 6 of these tractors, and while actual part numbers may be different, in most cases assembly is much the same. I do know the hydraulic pump is the same. The engines will interchange and bolt right up. The axles and axle carriers are the same. You can bolt a 404 torque tube to a SC transmission. Technically the 404 is nothing more than a beefed up 240.
