Can't say for sure, but I sincerely doubt it.

The 404 and 2404 Utility models aren't American tractors if I'm not mistaken. They're British- or German-built so they have little in common with the American-built 300/350 Utility models.

The PTO unit out of a 404 Utility would almost certainly fit. One out of a 424 or 354 or any of those other little utilities of the 1960's may fit as well.

Your best, and probably cheapest, bet is to start hunting salvage yards for the right part instead of trusting Ebay and hoping beyond all hope that the part you buy might fit.

Nat: Correction, 2404 and 404 are very much American and indeed share many parts with C, SC, 200, 230 and 240. The afore mentioned tractors are all in one IT manual that I have. Don't ask me to quote, the IT manual is on loan about 250 miles away.

The I 2404 industrial tractor is American and based on the C, SC, 200, 230, 240, & 404 (Hugh you are thinking or the I 2424 or I 2444 which are based on the B-275, B-414, etc). However the 2404 could be ordered without PTO but equipped to take PTO in which case a PTO from above tractors would work (external linkage might be different) or ordered without PTO not equipped to take PTO (common on industrial tractors) in which case no PTO will work without internal modification.

I don't know what fits. You probably need to start looking through the Parts Catalogs to match things up. I wouldn't expect a 300/350 to even be close. Check the C, Super C, 200, 230, 240, 404 models.

The only PTO that will fit a 404-2404 is one from the same tractor (404-2404). No other PTO will fit a 404-2404. This series has very few parts that interchange with other models. The PTO is live not independent...only fits these models. There is one on E-bay right now...search "IH 404"

Jeff: I will agree with you on the PTO being different from other IH tractors. However it is not live PTO, it does not have a two stage clutch, and your right it is not IPTO. It is a transmission driven PTO that stops every time you depress the clutch.

I don't have a parts book on both 404 and the C, SC, 200, 230 and 240. I do have an IT service manual the covers all 6 of these tractors, and while actual part numbers may be different, in most cases assembly is much the same. I do know the hydraulic pump is the same. The engines will interchange and bolt right up. The axles and axle carriers are the same. You can bolt a 404 torque tube to a SC transmission. Technically the 404 is nothing more than a beefed up 240.
