I've farmed with WD9's, worked on'em in our repair shop, seen a lot of'em at shows and I have one myself and I have yet to see the headlights mounted low. I don't believe the 9's had an orchard model but I may be wrong there. One of the tractors I bought for parts to restore mine, was a 1943 model and it didn't have an electric system. It was crank start only and it didn't have any mounting holes for the headlights on the grille, but the radiator sides did. I just figured that IH used the same radiators on all of them but used different grilles as the application dictated.
