Mark, Amen brother. I have worked on engines off and on for almost 40 years, and I have always found a good oil and used it and had no problems. I buy Rotella 15w40, and use it in everything I own from my H to my diesel tractors and my trucks. With the exception of the wife's Camaro, because it calls for 5W30. And it gets Pennzoil.
