It is much cheaper(about$ .37) to replace the ledger plates on your guards. Unless the guards are bent very badly they can be repaired with new plates. It requires a hammer, punch and a vise. Once you learn the technique it takes about five minutes. I now have a special tool that makes it a 2" job. That is much cheaper than entire new guards. I believe they are about $7. Remember they represent 50% of your cutting edge. A mower will not cut very well with worn ledger plates and will pull very hard and tend to break the stick. Hope this helps a bit.
