IH240 Round Bales?

Hello,
Just wondering if a IH240 could safely move a round bale with a 3pt spear? We're needing something large enough to take them off of the trailer when we get them here and move them to where they need to go (a few hundred yards at most). We would, of course, add weight to the front (load tires, wheel or suitcase weights).

Also, a neighbor assures me his had a locking diff. I thought Massey was pretty much the only one during this time to have that feature. Anyone?
