Powdercoating is one of the things I was going to look into for the rims, and maybe some other parts as well. I was told they have a "near chrome" color that is supposed to be very shiney. And Powdercoating is supposed to be the hardest paint, because of the way they put it on. So I would say it would hold up very well. I had a Mountain Bike powder coated, and it very chipped after much abuse. A friend had the frame of his 4x4 powder coated. I'm sure it held up fine.
