I rebuilt the pump on my H. The H pump has a cast iron or steel cover. I surface ground the cover flat, cleaned up the rough gear edges, and reassembled the pump. Great oil pressure all the time. I am surprised a cover would be alumimum? The pressure on a gear pump will always move the gears into the cover. The gears are hard, so I guess the cover is designed to wear.
