706 wont start. Getting mad now!

Ok here is the deal.
706 Gas. I get spark. It gets gas and it drips out the bottom of the carb sort of like it is flooded. Plugs are way dry though. I give it a shot of ether and she fires. but wont run past the ether.
That little cylinoid thing clicks as it should when turning the key.
Whats going on here???? Why wont it run?
