The casting numbers are under the valve cover. They may take some wire brushing to be readable. The heads will interchange, but may have different volumes in the chamber, and thus a 400 head on an M may have less compression. The fact that a head is off of a running engine does not guarantee that it is uncracked, or "good" good heads have been cleaned and magnafluxed and pressure tested to assure soundness. I'm sure yours are probably good, but selling them as good is risky without some assurance that they are as advertized. As is heads are worth scrap price for the weight.
