Plate is around 1/2 inch wide on outer edge, look for a parting line and some notches to get a pry started. Or screw a slide hammer in threaded hole in end of pinion shaft and they will both come out togeather. They are hard to get started out sometimes, When you get retainer out its no problem to remove seal. Retainer uses a O Ring to seal outside. If its a Super with disc brakes it comes out from outside. If its the bull pinion and differential carrier housing that needs removed the bull gear inside housing has to be moved out of way first.
