Rick By turning up the fuel and the rpms that 414 motor is able to go over 400 hp. I would not run that way very long but they will do it. Had the flow needle go bad on my 1086 (414 motor) and didn't know why it was smoking so bad. When we put it on the dyno it had over 300 hp. I was plowing at night when it happened so I ran it that way for a few hours without knowing. About 2 months later I had to put a head gasket in the 1086. Hmmmm I wonder why it went bad. Yes it will burn more fuel when you turn up the fuel or RPM's. You can run those 414 safely at 180 HP but if you don't need it don't do it for economy reasons. Gary
