hey, i actually had the same thing happen on a 140 friday. i tracked it down to a wire coming from the regulator to the ignition switch. the insulation was checked and cracked. i had a little fire at the points after changing everything i could in the distributor, and a little at the plugs every now and then. turns out that wire and the one going to the coil were on the same post on the switch, and the cracked wire was an easier ground than going through the distributor. so i replaced the wire from switch to regulator and it runs like it used to. hope this helps. nate
