Let's go the dumb question route...

I have a 48 H and a 52 H, both with band brakes. My question is this: On both of my tractors, to set the brakes you have to depress the pedals and reach down and lift the brake lock by hand. I got the chance to work on a couple of other Farmalls last weekend (H's and M's, some Supers, some straight)...all had a rod that ran to the left side of the deck plate that would allow you to lift the brake lock with the use of your left foot. Is that standard and my two old Farmall's just don't have it, or was this retrofitted over the years?
