The material the entire fuel system is made of is different. Also, the sensors you refer to change the ECM (engine control module) programming depending upon the % ethanol in the tank to compensate for the difference in octane and energy content of E85 vs. gasoline. This in effect changes fuel flow rate and timing as well.
