Kopeck: We just did half or one end of center tube at a time and found it took two torches to get it red hot. I just remembered after hanging it from ceiling, we hung about 50 lbs on the lower section we were trying to remove. This particular axle was the worst I've ever seen, it had a layer of rust between the tubes.

My friend has done another one since, and told me he built a box trough, filled it with used hydraulic oil and submerged the axle tubes in that for 6 months. In that case he had a spare axle from a parts tractor the owner used while the soaking took place. It worked well but he didn't think it was as bad to begin with as the earlier one.

I jumped in here as I knew of two cases where folks had snapped a spindle housing off from pulling and or jacking.
