Got a 560 diesel with 10 hours on a major overhaul, including rebuilt injection pump and injectors. Went to bale hay this weekend, started up the 560 and let it idle while I pulled the hay racks out to the feild with the M. Drove the 560 and the baler out to the feild, backed up to the first hay rack, got off to hook up, and the 560 started to miss. Throttled it up, and it smoothed right out. Started baling, going up a very steep hill, ran great. Got up on the flat at the end of the field, 560 started running like crap, came back out of it, and then totally died. I opened the bleed petcock on top of the primary filter canister, and a whole bunch of air came out. Pumped the hand primer until fuel came out the bleed cock, closed it, couldn't try to bleed the final filter as it's valve required a smaller wrench than I had along, but I tried to start the engine anyway, it fired right up and never missed a beat the rest of the day. My best guess is an air leak between the tank and the primary filter canister. Does that make sense? Where would the most likely source of the air leak be?
