It is very possible that the battery is charged backwards. (some may disagree, but it could be labeled wrong, or just charged backwards) It would be very unlikely to find dangerous voltage in there, but the wrong polarity will definatly ruin a charger. There is also a possibility that the charger is shorted internally. Try it on a different battery, and wiggle the wires. The battery polarity can be chacked with a volt meter easily Red on +, black on - if the volts read correctly, I would suspect the charger. That battery will turn 3/8 solid copper rod to molten slag if shorted. Be careful. JimN
