The orifce in the idle metering jet is smaller than any drill bit I own, and I have the complete set, letter, number, and fractional. The metering jet is made of soft brass, and it is very easy to run a drill bit through it thinking you are removing crud, but in fact you are opening up the orifice, and the tractor will not idle smooth and will put out black smoke while idling. Do as you want, but I would remove the idle jet and install a new one. It will also be much easier to remove the crud with the idle jet out.
