Farmall H won't turn??

am getting farmall h( believe its a 1942, sn is FBH 248812, tell me if im wrong or not), but was messing with it and am wondering how to start one of these the proper way? can move the hand crank, but hear no spark from mag but can feel something moving, is crank supposed to be pushed in and then spun cuz the fan acts kinda stuck and bottom pulley on fan won't move and no sound from magneto? any help appreciated, and also, is the tractor made to run on gas or kerosene? looks like auxillary tank been removed( is this in front of big tank, cuz hole in hood in front of main tank)?? thanks again
