Many instant knocks that just go away are chunks of carbon that come loose and wedge between the piston and Cylinder head. They only do harm if sufficient to crack/dent the piston, or bend a rod. If carbon deposit breakup is what happened, you probably are in the clear. Diesels are ment to be worked hard. They are like an athelete, if they aren't working out they suffer. Lets hope it was what i believe it to be. Keep an ear out. JimN
