Super C Hydraulic Pump Shaft Wear

How much is acceptable?

The hydraulic pump on my Super C was leaking fluid into the crankcase so I removed it and am replacing the O-rings with those supplied in the Touch Control gasket kit. I have read on this forum that if the shaft is worn too much a speedi-sleeve is the answer but am wondering how much is too much. I measured the shaft dimeter on the smooth part and in the groove and came up with 0.623 for non-worn spot and about 0.620 in the groove. While you can see and feel this the amount of wear doesn't seem too excessive.

I should note also that the O-ring seel looked to be in bad shape as it was brittle and the inside edge was hard and had several grooves in it.

For reference there is a place close by that does carry Speedi-sleeves so if tat is the correct answer it wouldn't be too difficult.

Lacking any other advice I am thinking of just putting it back together and hoping that the new O-ring will fix the leak.

Am I inviting another rebuild by not putting a sleeve on the shaft?
