Bought a 454 new in 1971 with a 1550 IH loader. The loader had its own valves. Calcium in the rear for ballast. The swept back front axle put a lot of weight on the front. It was a good snow tractor but poor on wet conditions. Traded in 1973 for a 574 and an 1850 loader. Put 9.5x15 tires on instead of 7.50x16. With big tires and a straight front axle, this was a much superior unit. Also with the straight axle and big tires, I also broke several spindles (about one a year)......QR..
