Hydrolic Filter

I finally did it, I decided to change the filter on my 350 U, boy what a mess. I have been having problems with the 2pt quiting right when I needed it most. I finally got everything off and found the filter which was partly colapsed. I have 2 questions
1. Are new filters avaiable? If so where and how much?
2. Has anybody ever thought about putting an external filter down by the pump? If so any help would be appriciated..
