You can check the oil level by means of a plug on the left side of the transmission, ahead of the axle. My B had an oil level that was too high, but didn't have too much oil, it was too much water. The water had run down the gearshift lever and into the transmission. It had about 4-5 qt of water below the oil when I drained it. When I took out the drain plug it drained pretty fast, faster than I was prepared for and I had a heck of a mess on my garage floor.
