Hello, A few days ago I made a post about whether a 656 ring gear could be flipped and used on the other side. I had just done that but the newly rebuilt stater would stick in the gear. Anyway I ended up getting a new gear thinking that the gear teeth should have a slight bevel to them to allow the starter gear to mesh properly. The new gear arrived today and it doesn't seem to have a bevel either. It looks identical on both sides. Now I wonder whether it is worth splitting the tractor again to put in the new gear, or could something else be causing the started to drag. It actually engages and then can't be stopped without unhooking the battery.Anyone have any thoughts. I hate to keep bring up the subject but it has me stumped. Thanks for the help, YC
