I recall those rural Nebraska one-room school
Christmas programs from when I was a kid -
Pot bellied coal heating stove in the middle of
the room and the hissing sound and smell of
the Aladan pump up, white gas lights,
Christmas carols sung, small brown bag of
peanuts, popcorn balls and hard candy all
mixed together and given to all at the end of
the program, kids recitations and some sort of
a Christmas play that didn't take more than a
handful of actors.

One got a really good education in those
schools too 'cause you sat through each
grade eitht times!
