When I converted my SMTA from generator to alternator I just turned the bracket upside down. Used A Delco 3 wire alternator and it fits, had to use shorter belt and believe I drilled out the hole in bracket from 5/16 to 3/8. Alternator is flipped up, tried it both ways but down didn"t work. Not a lot of adjustment on belt. Think I also drilled and tapped larger area on top of thermostat housing for 5?16 bolt and ran adjuster from there.
