Pretty much what everyone else has told you. You can down shift gears with the clutch disengaged ,the gears grind a little, but I don't think that we could upshift. I have one on a Super H it was pretty handy when I ran clover seed with it.

They are not that hard to disassemble or remove the entire unit form the tractor, just you will destroy the inner oil seal that seals to the pinion shaft. That seal was no longer available I had to take measurements from it and have a custom seal ordered (not that painful).

Sooo, there not that hard to work on and you can remove the entire unit and swap to another tractor. If you are going to do this post again and I can give you some more tips.
